Kayakoy Village

Kayakoy village is located in the south of Fethiye city, 8 km from its center. It is an archaeological area located in historical Lycia, where the founding of the city dates back to the first millennium BC. Today, Kayakoy village is considered a living museum in the heart of nature, including a group of buildings and churches that were abandoned by its inhabitants during the Turkish-Greek war. Most of these buildings date back to the eighteenth century AD.
Today, the village of Kayakoy in Fethiye is famous for its many ancient buildings that give you a perfect view of the village’s history, including Roman, Greek, and Anatolian ruins, as well as the aftermath of the world wars and the Crusades. You will also discover many Catholic churches located below the village. The village also has many fun activities and events, such as popular markets selling handicrafts, group barbecues, evening parties, and several restaurants that serve traditional Turkish cuisine and Greek dishes that the region is famous for.
